The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is the only SUV vehicle in its class that offers a way to get green without sacrificing quality and luxury. Maximum seating capacity in the Hybrid is 8. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is the only full size SUV with a 2 mode hybrid powertrain on the market. The two mode hyrbrid powertrain in the Escalade Hybrid allows fifty percent better fuel economy than other conventional vehicles in city driving. It also allows at least a forty percent increase in fuel economy overall.

The Cadillac Escalade’s two-mode hybrid system combines GM’s Vortec 6.0L V8 with the company’s new Electrically Variable Transmission (EVT). 2 electric motors help to power the 4 four gear EVT transmission. To conserve fuel, the V-8 engine has the brand’s Active Fuel Management System, which shuts off 4 cylinders in light load conditions. When idling and stopping the gas engine shuts off but restarts when needed. The electric motors let the engine to run in a four-cylinder mode more often.

With light throttle, the electric motors can propel the New Cadillac Escalade up to 30 mph, but together the electric motor and gasoline engine produce 332 hp and 367lb.ft. of torque.Located under the second row seats lies a 300-Volt battery pack that powers all electric engines, the steering system, and the electrically driven air conditioning compressor. Regenerative braking also charges the batteries. The Escalade hybrid is available in two and four wheel drive.Although it would be awesome to have the hybrid powertrain in all trims of the Escalade, it only comes available in the standard length.

As far as towing capability, the new Cadillac Escalade will be rated to tow up to 6000 pounds with rear wheel drive and 5700 pounds with all wheel drive. The Escalade Hybrid comes equipped with and eight inch touch screen showcasing a hybrid drive system, allowing the driver to see which mode the SUV is functioning in. The Hybrid comes with an economy guage, which has green and red bars to represent which zones drivers should drive in to get the best mpg.The Escalade hybrid also has an Auto Stop reader on the RPM gauge to let drivers know when the gas engine is off.
